Black Latino coalitions have long been a force for social and political change in New York City. From the civil rights movement to the fight for affordable housing, Black and Latino communities have come together to demand justice and equality. In recent years, these coalitions have played a key role in the election of progressive candidates to public office.

One of the most visible examples of a Black Latino coalition is the Working Families Party. Founded in 1998, the WFP is a progressive political party that has played a major role in electing left-leaning candidates to city, state, and federal office. The WFP has a strong base of support in Black and Latino communities, and its candidates have consistently received high levels of support from these voters.

Another example of a Black Latino coalition is the Community Service Society. Founded in 1848, the CSS is a non-profit organization that provides a wide range of social services to New Yorkers in need. The CSS has a long history of working with Black and Latino communities, and its programs have helped to improve the lives of millions of New Yorkers.

Black Latino coalitions have also played a key role in the fight for affordable housing in New York City. In the 1970s and 1980s, Black and Latino activists came together to fight against the displacement of their communities due to gentrification. These activists organized protests, lobbied elected officials, and developed community-based solutions to the housing crisis. Their efforts helped to preserve affordable housing in many New York City neighborhoods.

In recent years, Black Latino coalitions have continued to play a vital role in New York City politics. In 2013, a coalition of Black and Latino activists helped to elect Bill de Blasio as mayor of New York City. De Blasio is a progressive Democrat who has made a number of promises to address the concerns of Black and Latino communities, including investing in affordable housing, improving education, and reducing crime.

The election of de Blasio is a sign of the growing political power of Black Latino coalitions in New York City. These coalitions are becoming increasingly influential in shaping the city's policies and priorities. As Black and Latino communities continue to grow in size and influence, their coalitions are likely to play an even greater role in the future of New York City.

Black Latino coalitions have been a driving force for social and political change in New York City for decades. These coalitions have fought for civil rights, affordable housing, and progressive candidates to public office. As Black and Latino communities continue to grow in size and influence, their coalitions are likely to play an even greater role in the future of New York City.
