Hillary Rodham Clinton is an American politician, diplomat, lawyer, author, and public speaker. She is best known for serving as the 67th United States Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013, and as the First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001.
Clinton was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1947. She graduated from Wellesley College and Yale Law School, and then worked as a staff attorney for the Children's Defense Fund. In 1975, she married Bill Clinton, who went on to become Governor of Arkansas. Hillary Clinton served as First Lady of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1983 to 1992.
In 1993, Bill Clinton was elected President of the United States. Hillary Clinton became First Lady of the United States, and she held that position until 2001. During her time as First Lady, she worked on a number of issues, including healthcare reform, education, and women's rights.
After leaving the White House, Clinton continued to be involved in public service. She was elected to the United States Senate in 2000, and she served in that body until 2009. In 2008, she ran for President of the United States, but she lost the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama. Obama appointed Clinton Secretary of State in 2009.
As Secretary of State, Clinton worked on a number of issues, including nuclear nonproliferation, climate change, and human rights. She was also involved in the negotiations that led to the Iran nuclear deal. Clinton left the State Department in 2013, and she returned to private life.
In 2016, Clinton ran for President of the United States again. She won the Democratic nomination, but she lost the general election to Donald Trump. Clinton continues to be involved in public life, and she is a vocal critic of the Trump administration.
Hillary Clinton is a complex and controversial figure. She has been praised for her intelligence, her work ethic, and her commitment to public service. However, she has also been criticized for her ambition, her secrecy, and her lack of charisma.
Despite the criticism, Clinton remains a popular figure in American politics. She is a role model for many women, and she is seen as a tough and experienced leader. Clinton is likely to continue to be a major force in American politics for many years to come.
